Recently I’ve been taking advice from Mike Cernovich from DangerAndPlay. He gave me some helpful tips about my blog and what I should start doing to improve it.
Mike Cernovich has been blogging for years for the site DangerAndPlay. The site gets millions of visitors and is popular with many. I got a chance to speak with Mike, and I’ll share some info.
Here are the changes I’m making and maybe they will help you out as well.
Do more how-to articles
When I first started this site I was doing some tech review over iPhone apps. Eventually I deleted them because the quality was bad, and they were all over the place.
I’ll start doing more tutorials because that’s how a lot of people find this blog.
My most famous tutorial is where I teach people how to hardsub subtitles into videos. It’s sitting around 53,000 views as of today.
Doing tutorials is not the most fun thing in the world but they do attract visitors so I’ll do more of them.
I’m going back to the basics of just doing how to tutorial on anything I can think of that’s worthwhile.

Write out transcripts to podcasts
One piece of advice from Mike is that podcast listeners are usually listening to music when they land on your blog. Which is why it is important to write out the show notes or do a full transcript of the conversation.
So I will take that advice and write up some show notes.
My website doesn’t have a mailing list. But a free one is to use MailChimp. I’ll be adding that to the site as well.
What nobody will tell you
This shit is hard. But I’ve had glimpses success. My YouTube channel hit over 200,000 views and 570 subscribers, which great.
I’m on the right track, but as he said in one of his videos, “It can feel like screaming into outer space and no one answers you.”
Even when he started it was the same story.
It’s August and I’ve posted 18 articles so I’ve got the momentum to keep going.
