Gumroad is a quick way to sell something if you don’t have a website. You can even sell products straight off Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. All you need is a link from Gumroad and when users click this link it will take them straight to a product page.
The product page is designed to be as straight forward as possible. You can even customize what the button says, and add pictures and video to the product page.
Here is a quick example I did for a tutorial on how to create an ebook:
It might take a second to load, but the product page is just a short embed code that I put into my wordpress post.
Think of it as a mini-customizable webpage that’s meant for products. You can also add a video from YouTube, so when people click a link it will play right inside of the box.
IF you like buttons you can also create one in Gumroad and post it to your blog, YouTube, Twitter, or other social media:
Just like that Gumroad is easy to use and you can start pasting links for digital or physical products you want to sell.
How does Gumroad make money?
Gumroad takes a small percentage of your sales. The free version of Gumroad, is 8.5% + 30 cents per transaction. If you get the Premium version of Gumroad for $10(USD)/month, their fee is 3.5% + 30 cents per sale.
For the ease of use, you will have to decide if the costs are worth it. I know setting up a website to take payments is a pain, but if you’re not technically inclined, Gumroad is a good choice.
What else do you need to set up an account with Gumroad
You will need a bank account. The setup process doesn’t take very long. One of the advantages to using Gumroad is their ability to accept multiple types of currency.
You can be up and running within a day.
Build an email list with Gumroad
With Gumroad you also have the ability to capture emails when someone goes to your product page. I haven’t fully tested this out, but it’s an option if you need something quick.
For capturing emails I use a free service called MailChimp. If you’re starting out I would look at them or Gumroad and start building.
