“Get there first” will always be timeless. Being the first means being the person to go to. Being first means all eyeballs are on you and what you know.
Because I was the first to review it, my site now sits at the top of Google for the keyword, “Pomera” and “Pomera DM100.”
I also get paid by Amazon whenever someone clicks on a link and goes to the product page.
Being at the top of Google for any keyword is a great feeling and I my niche site “PomeraDM100Guide” consistently gets views and people clicking.
Browse foreign countries/websites/and stores for products
If you travel keep your eyes out for obscure technology, machines, or services that are not in your home country.
I’ve even browsed Amazon.co.jp for products that I could build a niche site around. There are several if you are willing to put in the time and effort.
Do book reviews
Maybe you’re thinking, “Yea, but everything I’m interested in is already covered.”
That’s where you are wrong. Another tip, which I didn’t mention, is to be the first to review a book. A book I reviewed when it first came out was, Gorilla Mindset. And as of today, if you do a Google search for “Gorilla Mindset Book Review” my review is on page 2.
If I wanted to be at the top of Google, I might of re-titled the article as “Gorilla Mindset Review” or something along those lines.
Write longer once you find that product
When you are first, you also want to make sure your article is long. The one thing I’ve noticed is that Google, tends to like long articles with some pictures and video on it.
- To see and example of this check out my long article on the Pomera DM100.
Pay attention to YouTube comments or posts on sites like Reddit
Often times I’ll browse Reddit, and I’ll see a product from Japan hit the front page. Often it’s some kind of beauty product, but the point is to keep your eyes open.
If I were a girl, I would build a niche site around all the female Japanese products and makeup techniques that are over there.
- In fact if you are a girl reading this check out my documentary I translated about a Tokyo makeup artist who makes a living wearing a surgical mask and doing makeup.
- Pay attention to foreign technology/services/and websites when looking for a niche product
- Be the first to review a product
- Be the first to build a niche site around a product
- Make sure the article is long and informative
- Pay attention to what comments are being said in YouTube vids/Blogs. These will help you write new articles.
I’ll admit that when I first started this website, I had no idea what a niche site was. I just happened to have a product that no-one else had heard about and learned that way. Travel and always keep your eyes peeled.
Amazon.co.jp has tons of opportunities for products. If you need to get started I would use Google Translate and Tenso.com to order from there. Because I’m interested in writing, that’s why I bought the Pomera DM100. I don’t know what you are interested in so I’ll wish you the best of luck in finding something.
