In the podcast below, I’ll cover what it’s like to attend a seminar and how there is a certain “disconnect” between what you see on YouTube vs real-life. I’ll cover, posture, vibe, mindfulness, and other takeaways from the seminar. Overall highly worth it for leveling up your mind.
1 – Mindfulness
Mindfulness is something you do when you want to check into the present moment. For example, right now I’m typing this article staring at the wordpress drafting screen. The screen is too bright and hurts my eyes. That right there is all it takes to check in to the present.
Often times, we get so disoriented when thinking about the past or future. Checking in something that you can do anytime during the day when you just want more focus.
2 – Posture
How you stand is how you feel. If you are slumped over, looking down at the ground, then that’s how you will feel. Likewise, if you stand up straight, head up, shoulders straight, you will feel more confident.
After the seminar, I walked around Santa Monica with good posture. Once you do this you realize that most people have horrible posture.
Another thing I noticed–if you are not used to walking around with great posture you’re shoulders and neck will slowly start to go back to what were used to. It makes it harder when we constantly look down at our phones and get that “iPhone” neck.
I used mindfulness to check in, and correct my posture as I walked around.
3 – Vision is offense
When you have a vision you have to take action to get there. That’s living life on the offense instead of defense. Most people have no vision of their futures. I used to be this way until I started envisioning great things.
There are several books about vision and visualizing but I won’t cover them here. It’s enough to know that it works. Just look at Jim Carrey, Connor McGregor, and other celebrities who use it all the time.
Vision is nothing without habits. In order to give your vision strength you have to align your habits with that vision. It’s not enough to just visualize, you have to take action and play the numbers game.
This blog post is taking action. If I didn’t write this who would know I existed ? As my stats show, people do find this all because I took the time to sit down and write it out.
4 – Presence and Vibe
Seeing someone on YouTube vs real-life is a different experience. Often times you don’t get a sense of who someone is unless you meet them.
If you take a Gorilla Mindset seminar you will know what I mean.
Often times, it doesn’t “click” unless you just go and see for yourself. For me, this helped internalize the stuff I read in the book.
5 – Pacing and Leading
This is the charisma part of the lecture. When you meet someone on there level you can get a better view of what they thinking. If someone has a closed off posture, then meeting them at that level will allow you to get them to open up if that is your goal.
Humans a designed to mimic the people they like. If you’ve ever reached for a drink and then seconds later your date reaches for a drink, it’s the same thing.
Persuasion and charisma are ultimately about meeting people at their level and leading them to something better.
